To promote breastfeeding through the Tri-county Breastfeeding Coalition by providing breastfeeding information that is accurate, concise, and consistent in a user friendly manner.

Purpose

• Create a Network of individuals interested in promoting Breastfeeding in the Tri-county area.

• Coordinate Breastfeeding promotional and educational activities including conferences.

• Provide educational information, train-ing, and support of breastfeeding women of childbearing age in the Tri-county area.

• Work to achieve the goals of Healthy People 2010 for "75% of women breastfeeding at discharge and 50% still breastfeeding at six months."

• Facilitate education and imple-mentation of New York State Hospital Code of Rules and Regulations section regarding support of breastfeeding in hospital settings and New York State Department of Health's "Best Practices for Breastfeeding: Breastfeeding Promotion Guidelines for Hospitals."
