GOUVERNEUR ACTIVITIES AND LEARNING CENTER

In September 2005, NCPPC entered into its second year of funding with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services Hoyt Trust Fund for the Family Resource Center located in Gouverneur, New York. The Center provides opportunities for educational play, information and referral, parent education, family support, child development and health education complemented by family recreation and community outreach. A parent advisory group determines center programming targeted toward families with children birth to 5. Its goals include preventing child abuse and neglect while offering positive experiences for families. 139 adults and 162 children have enrolled and participated in the Center activities during the two years of Center operation.
